During difficult seasons in life we can discover that our coping strategies are not effective to meet our current set of challenges. Melissa would be honored to come alongside of you on your journey to explore the obstacles that are hindering you from having peace, wholeness, wellness and relational satisfaction in your life. The first step to any transformation is awareness and a desire for change. Melissa knows firsthand what it is like to be a client, as she was a client working with her own therapist on her personal journey of wellness and peace, years before she became a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Melissa attended Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas where she received her Masters in Biblical Counseling in 2013. She provided counseling at Dallas Life with the city’s population of under-housed and underemployed individuals and families while obtaining her graduate degree. She went on to pass the National Counseling Exam in 2013 and completed the required 3,000 clinical and administrative hours to obtain LPC licensure in the state of West Virginia, in 2015. While residing in West Virginia, Melissa worked with children and families directly involved in the state foster care system, as well as adolescents, adults, couples and families. Melissa has not only worked with struggling couples, but she has also worked with parents and teens as they seek to improve connection and communication.
Tailoring the therapeutic experience to meet the needs of each individual, Melissa draws from a variety of approaches to include Cognitive Behavioral, Adlerian, Gestalt, and Gottman theories. In 2018, Melissa was granted her LPC license by the state of Wyoming and has enjoyed living in Sheridan with her husband, son and dog since that time. Although she has maintained her license with the state, her time and energy have been fully devoted to her family and homeschooling her son. She is eager, to once again, engage in the process of change and transformation in the lives of people in her community. Melissa is a follower of Jesus Christ, who respects the faiths and personal values of all.
